Granny's Lye Soap (unscented)
When I say Grannys Old Fashion Lye soap, that is exactly what i mean. My granny taught me to render my own lard, which I use in this soap. She didn't have the fancy essential oils or fragrance oils, so I left this one as unscented. Granny's Lye Soap is in memory of my granny. I had her on the phone numerous times through out the day while i was calculating this recipe. I am in love with this soap! Gentle enough for your face, but cleans like a boss.
Each bar is hand cut. 4 oz is a good estimate on weight of each bar.
Contains Water, Lard, Castor oil, Coconut oil, Canola oil and Sodium Hydroxide No fragrance oil added, so it is great for sensitive skin.
Just a note about Sodium Hydroxide (Lye): You have to have sodium Hydroxide to make soap....that is what true soap is, saponified oils (the chemical reaction with my lye water or milk solution is introduced in to my oil) Strict calculations are made with each recipe to ensure the correct percentage of lye verses water and oil. There is NO active lye left in the soap
